Terrified, Heeseong lay curled up under the bed late into the night, unable to fall asleep. The man-eating wolf kept gnawing at the bed where the puppy was hiding, poking its nose through the gaps.

‘What kind of pheromone shock is he in…?’

Heeseong timidly barked a few times, trying to get the wolf to come to its senses, but no form of body language worked with the wolf. It was clear that the wolf was in a pheromone shock so severe that even it wouldn’t recognize itself. Upon seeing the wolf’s spine-chilling fangs once more, the puppy shed a few tears and thought,

‘I’ll just, I’ll just get away from this bastard and live on my own, damn it.’

Heeseong tried to think fiercely out of fear, but each time the wolf paced atop the bed above his head, the puppy squeezed his eyes shut and trembled finely.

After being tormented by fear for a long time, the puppy fell into a light sleep, curled up in a ball. It was possible only because the man-eating wolf on the bed had finally quieted down. Heeseong was indeed worried about Yoon Chi-young, but he didn’t have the courage to go out and check on him. For the puppy, it was truly a matter of life and death.

    Thump.

The puppy, who had been sleeping restlessly, was awakened by the noise.

    “Puppy…?”

Upon opening his eyes at the distant call, the room was bright, as if the sun had risen. Heeseong blearily opened his drowsy eyes and perked up his ears. It seemed like he could hear Yoon Chi-young’s voice from afar.

“Puppy… Where on earth are you?”

At that moment, Yoon Chi-young, wearing only a hastily thrown-on robe, entered the bedroom, gripping the doorframe. He staggered as if he were drunk, and his movements were loose. On top of that, he was breathing unsteadily and roughly, just like last night.

‘Has he returned to his right mind now…?’

The puppy glared at Yoon Chi-young with a wary expression. Yoon Chi-young’s condition, with wolf ears and tail still exposed, was suspicious.

    “Gyeon Heeseong. Gyeon Heeseong….”

Heeseong had intended to observe him for now, but Yoon Chi-young was desperately searching for him. Unlike usual, he couldn’t even use his sense of smell properly, trembling his fingertips and repeatedly calling out for Heeseong. His face, which was uncharacteristically pale, looked like it would crumble at any moment.

Feeling sorry for him, the puppy poked his head out a little from under the bed.

    Woof… Woof.

As he timidly barked, Yoon Chi-young immediately turned around. He had been searching for the puppy in vain among the pillow stuffing scattered on the floor, but upon seeing the cotton ball with three black dots printed on it under the bed, he finally distinguished the puppy.

As soon as their eyes met, Yoon Chi-young let out a big sigh of relief and flashed a bright smile, revealing his vampire-like fangs.

“Ah… You were there? I’ve been looking for you for a while.”

‘Is he really okay…? He’s still staggering.’

As Yoon Chi-young approached, Heeseong glared at him with suspicious eyes, his ears pressed flat back.

Seeing the dust-covered puppy, Yoon Chi-young let out a sigh of relief and muttered,

    “Thank goodness… I didn’t kill you.”

    ‘Cr-crazy bastard.’

The startled puppy backed further under the bed. Although Yoon Chi-young’s relieved appearance was somewhat strange, Heeseong still doubted whether he had truly returned to normal.

At that moment, Yoon Chi-young knelt in front of the bed and opened his arms.

    “Come here, darling.”

Seeing him talk nonsense, it was clear that it was indeed Yoon Chi-young.

Confirming that he was normal, the puppy’s eyes, which had been tightly curled up, became wide and round. Perhaps because he felt relieved, the fearful memories of last night struck his heart with a sense of unfairness. His tail also began to wag softly like a feather once more.

    “There, it’s okay.”

Yoon Chi-young spread his arms even closer, as if telling him to come quickly. The puppy’s expression, which had been full of wariness, crumbled pitifully.

    ‘I was scared!’

The puppy barked as if crying and clung tightly to Yoon Chi-young’s embrace.
